Ghoulies and Ghosties

It's been a long time since I typed to you last.

But that's ok, you don't need to hear about my workload, that's kind of boring (at least in my opinion...).
I've also been waiting so I can tell you about my experience with a real, live MENTALIST *whoop*.

Actually, it was a real, live mentalist duo... but that's just a minor detail. They are... THE EVASONS! It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. The two of them (married couple in case you were curious) are mind readers, which is a bit redundant seeing as that is the definition of a mentalist. They did a lot of those really cool tricks with guessing what you were holding, who gave it to you and other small details... while blindfolded. It was pretty darn cool.

Now comes the ridiculous part. Their last trick. Drum roll please!

They looked around the room and asked if anyone had ever seen a ghost before. Me, being the paranoid, supernatural-believing person that I am, raised my hand.

"Yes, Henna. When did you see your ghost?" Did I mention she had no way of knowing my name?

I can see you at your computer right now... Yes Henna, when did you see your ghost? Five years ago, when I was home alone. I was sitting in my little green chair, reading a book... and a woman was walking up the stairs. Maybe. I don't know if I remember it right, or my imagination made it up. But anyways...

So I answered these lovely mind readers and then the husband said, "Henna, what we are about to ask you to do might scare you very badly. Do you want to do this?"

...Did you read that? Read it again. He totally dared me...

Of course I wanted to do this. (Partially because I had no idea what "this" was) So I made my way up to the stage and sat in the lone chair. He stood in front and me and said, partially to me and mostly to the audience.

"Henna, we're going to have you pick out someone from the audience for a psychic connection." I chose my roommate from last year. "Now we're going to have you close your eyes. Anything you feel remember. Changes in temperature, someone touching you, anything."

They asked the audience if anyone was interested in photography. Several kids raised their hands and they called one girl forward, giving her a polaroid camera. When they gave her the signal, she was going to frame the picture in a certain way and take the picture. They chose two more girls randomly from the audience and placed them to the side and behind me so they could see my back at all times.

"Please close your eyes." Creepy music started to play and I felt the temperature in the air drop IMMEDIATELY. (I'm convinced the man in a hypnotist or something... he was talking the entire time.) As he continued talking I suddenly felt a push on my right shoulder blade. It felt like a person. It was totally a person, no? Then, another identical push on my left shoulder blade. Then, another cold breath and push on my upper back. That last one really startled me, I think I moved and made a noise at this point. Then, the picture was taken.

As I opened my eyes, they quickly gave the picture to the photographer, telling her to keep it in between her hands while it developed.

When he asked me what I felt, I told him. When I told him where I had been touched, my "psychic connection" turned white. He turned to the girls behind me. "Did anyone touch her?" They both shook their heads. I was getting more and more scared.

He took the picture from the girl's hand and began showing it to the crowd. Everyone was screaming. *scaryscaryscary*

In the picture with me was an old woman's face.
FREAKY.

Veterans' Day Tomorrow

We had a wonderful speaker for Veterans' Day. Told us how he had started as a journalist in Beijing and then was recruited (sort of) to be a Marine.

It's been raining non-stop for the past several days... it makes the hems of my jeans wet... and cold.

It's been cold. But I REFUSE TO WEAR MY JACKET UNTIL THANKSGIVING.

That is how I do it every year. Yessiree.

We Struck It All Down, Good Morning To Tomorrow

We had Strike this morning.

AND IT WAS SO SHORT! I mean, I'm totally in awe. The time allotment given is usual from 9-4. Today we got everything done from 9-12.

I felt pretty rad (I don't know about everyone else....)

But that's the end of the play. Bittersweet way to end.

Oh well, on to ACT 65 SCENE 98

Now Then, Take Your Last Bow!

Saturday night... the last show. Kind of bittersweet in a way. It's taken two months to get to that point and suddenly, you're standing on the stage with people clapping at you. Hm. Makes time seem a whole heck of a lot shorter doesn't it?

I thought so. I saw that agreement in your eyes. Don't lie to me.

And then there was the...

CAST PARTY!

However, going ons at cast parties are classified.
So you don't get to know. Ha.

But tomorrow is strike. And we have to tear that beautiful, amazing set apart. Such a pity.

Note: It's daylight savings time tonight/tomorrow. We're "falling back", which means an extra hour of sleep for everyone! Hoorah!

Opening Night!

We opened! We finally did! (It took two months, but we made it :D )

No mishaps, no (truly) broken legs and everyone went home with a smile on their face!

But excuse me, I happen to have lots of homework to complete.

When You Miss Your Breakfast Cuppa, Mtn Dew is the Next Best Thing

This morning boarders had rolling check-in. Yeehaw! Which means we don't have to be there for assembly... we just roll in before 8:20.
However, fire drills ruined this lovely, lovely day! (At 6:25...) I wake up at 7:20 on a normal day... I lost a full hour of sleep. It was even more irksome because I woke up in the end of the fourth stage.

Translation: I was exhausted. Hoorah. So I tried to go back to sleep and succeeded. I then proceeded to sleep through my alarm and miss breakfast. No coffee. :(

During my second period free, I ran back to my dorm. What did I grab? Mtn Dew, of course.

Oh you 55.5 mg of caffeine, I sure did need you!

Update: The mountain dew worked for about 3 hours. Thankfully, there was no crash. I'm not sure if I should be worried that the mountain dew isn't lasting very long...

Tonight's rehearsal for The Visit was looooooong. And I am now tired. But I cannot sleep yet! Oh no I cannot! I still have poetry to work on...
